Unbeknownst to many, Liverpool was a pioneering city in the development of financial markets in Britain, the Liverpool Stock Exchange being founded in 1836. Although trading ceased in 1985 the legacy has continued, with a number of large UK wealth managers originating and still headquartered in Liverpool. Blankstone Sington is also a part of this heritage, a boutique founded in 1976 by former Liverpool Stock Exchange Chairman Michael Blankstone and his business partner Reggie Sington and still based near the original exchange.
